If Architects Had To Work Like Web Designers

29. October 2004

It’s definitely not the original as I read this years ago, however it’s the first one coming up in Google so this is what I’m linking to: http://twasink.net/blog/archives/2004/10/if_architects_h.html Dear Mr. Architect: Please design and build me a house. I am not quite sure of what I need, so you should use your discretion. My house should have [...]

Where N is a number > 5 Bealers.com now runs Wordpress and as of this post is out of beta, i.e. I have copied over the few Blogger.com posts that I made. I originally tried Blogger.com, then tried Moveable type for about 10 seconds, Perl *shudder* then I found Wordpress that is PHP and has a community. I’ve [...]

http://uk2.php.net/mysqli The mysqli extension allows you to access the functionality provided by MySQL 4.1 and above. More information about the MySQL Database server can be found at http://www.mysql.com/ This is news to me! I wonder if the PEAR DB_MYSQL that we are using is taking all of these new functions into account? Although I can’t be arsed to look right now.

[PHP|POST]-Nuke permissions

20. October 2004

The PostNuke permissions system is half arsed voodoo magic. I’m working on the Waltham Forest Twins and Triplets site for Cathie in my spare (yeah right) time. To save me having to write a lot of code I’ve opted for one of the ‘Nukes’. I went for post nuke as it seemed better supported, the earlier one seems [...]

When the kids have their dinner in the evening they *have* to have the telly on in the next room and they pass comment on what’s happening from their high chairs. ‘Mo!’ when Roly Mo (Fimbles) sings his song, ‘Gah’ with birdie fingers when (fat) bird says her bit and then when the next prog ‘64 Zoo Lane’ comes on they [...]

Moveable type

I think I’ll give moveable type a go. Whilst this blogger.com stuff is OK, it’s got it’s limitations. I do need something where I can open the hood and see what’s going on. The thing that I’m missing the most is more advanced email->blog features such as image uploading etc. If MT doesn’t have it then at least I’ll [...]

The X-Prize was won a few weeks back by a high altitude plane that carries a small 3 person rocket module as high as it can. The module is released when the plane can’t climb any more and once free it fires itself straight up into space. Just before apogee it’s wing folds and it sort’ve floats back down, [...]
