Upton-upon-Severn

Flooded boat

Who’d have thought it, lots of heavy rain and then the next few days the River bursts its banks, amazing. Yes for the third time this year it’s flood time here in not-so-sunny Upton.

Thankfully there are some excellent flood defences in place so the town is still usable (unlike the main road to Malvern) and I’m able to write this at work.

Looks like it’s a lot worse elsewhere in the area with one guy dying this morning in Pershore when he tried to cross a ford in his car.

More photos on my Facebook also on the BBC site.

So I presume you’re just loitering around as normal? No exciting boat trip to work then?

The flood defenses look like they’re doing a good job at least - but why don’t “they” just build a big wall/bank?

No, no boat trip though I am wishing I’d bought a windsurfing rig as opposed to a surfboard now. The main field looks like it’s about to become a good lake…
