Where’s my spy camera?

3. May 2007

My quad core Mac Pro finally arrived yesterday much to the relief of the people at work as I am no longer able to parrot out every 5 minutes “Where’s my spy camera”. I’ve never used a Mac for day to day tasks before so I’m more than a little daunted. I took it home to [...]

Soon to be smug Mac user?

26. April 2007

My financial year ends in 4 days, we are in profit so I figured that now was as good a time as any to buy a new computer. After a year or two of indecision I’ve finally taken the plunge and bought a Mac for use as my primary workstation. Should be interesting.

LCD image persistance

Just now I changed my background image from a pic of my kids to nothing, so it was just the standard ‘windows blue’ background. Horror of horrors on one of my monitors I could clearly read the text from the file name tabs of my IDE that I had closed hours ago, surely this means [...]

Devo Freeplay DAB Radio

24. February 2006

Today I became the owner of a Devo Freeplay DAB radio and I have to say that I’m very pleased with it. My family have been heavy users of the *fantastic* Roberts RD6 DAB radio (the older version without the pause feature) for the last 18 months or so which lives in our kitchen and is [...]

Sky Gnome

The newly launched Sky Gnome is a rounded pyramid that looks like a clock radio and enables one to listen to any channel on Sky remotely. According to the FAQ (which I can’t link to because it’s embedded in a stupid flash movie) it can transmit up to 30 meters if you want to be able [...]

Akai M-8 Reel to Reel Tape Recorder

13. October 2005

I write this listening to my Akai M-8 valve powered reel to reel tape recorder. It’s playing a random tape that I bought on eBay for a fiver entitled ‘Genesis: And then there were three’. Luckily for me that was obviously recorded over and it actually contains Jean Michel Jarre’s Concerts in China which I’ve [...]

Firefox on my PDA

I’ve a Dell Axim x30i and occaisionlly I use it to look at things on the int3rweb. Windows 2003 Mobile Edition comes with IE (suprise suprise) but I’d rather use something else. Minimo, sounds like the perfect replacement, though it’s still heavily in development (I guess) and on my first install seemed to be slow and [...]

Conflict Global Storm

My mate Tim’s new game came out today: Conflict Global Storm. It has Net play, which is a bonus, but the previous ones in the series were superb without it. Depends if you like games where you control a squad of soldiers (in first person) running around (and sneaking) shooting and blowing stuff up. I do [...]

My new monitors came today

22. August 2005

It’s the first time since 1998 that I’ve bought a brand new screen - that time it was my Iiyama which was a whopping 17″ CRT with totally flat screen; If your video card could handle it then it could do 1600 x 1200 @ 85Hz! They replace my nice-but-huge second hand Sun 21″ flat CRT [...]

Monitors of lushness

For my home office I just ordered myself two of these Dell Ultrasharp 2005FPW 20″ widescreen LCD Flat Panel Monitors. I got them off the back of this review which states that they are pretty much exactly the same as the Apple ones. As unique as Apple’s Cinema display might be in the world of [...]
