Here I am blatantly contradicting myself and posting within a week of saying I won’t be for a while.

Well there is one subject that I’m particularly interested in at the moment and can find the motivation to post about; my veg.

Tonight I came home and realised just how much variety we’ve got that will be soon ready to eat so I thought I’d share a few pics:

Hard work.

Kurt and I attempted so see the entire piece last night at the Barbican. We managed the first half which was 1.5 hours and whilst being in awe of complexity and the sheer effort being used to manually repeat the same chord for 45 minutes without a break by half time we could face no more and left early; I feel less of a philistine to now know that it’s normally played out over 3 days.

I had a great time and also managed to fit in clearing the last things from our house before its sale and seeing Orient nail Port Vale 3:1 at Brisbane Road thanks to Karl. Shame about the Rugby and the F1.

From that I get the impression that they, like us, have been willing lots of little dots in mud to become green living things. I never realised what a stressful time it could be worrying about carrots, parsnips & onions etc. and that’s even before they are in the ground. Once that happens there is then a whole new world of pain trying to stop everything eating them.

Chilli power

Last year, soon after we moved, I bought 2 chilli plants at a Malvern farmers market. Off the back of those 2 plants - 1x Jalepeno and 1x Scotch Bonnet - I got about 50 fruits each, yummy!

Well this year I’m having a go at growing my own. I got 50x ‘Bolivian Rainbow’ and 20x ‘Long Cayenne’ seeds from the Mrs for christmas plus as an experiment I got 1 of each of last years fruits from the freezer and planted the seeds from them - approx 8x scotch bonnet and 15 Jalepeno.

So without further ado may I present to you some tubs of mud.

I went with Karl to see Orient play last night. I soon realised just how much I miss being able to go to regular games, but seeing as it’s my only regret about leaving London, I can live with it.

Anyway, the game was really exciting to start off with both sides giving a good account of themselves. Unfortunately the O’s then let in 2 goals just before half-time. Soon after the re-start they let another one in, at this point people started going home and the Gillingham supporters were very vocal. It was depressing to watch; the O’s were all over the place.

Then a ray of light; due to a blatant red card offence that only resulted in a yellow the keeper gave away a penalty. Matt Lockwood scored.

Then he scored a second and with a new found belief they kept up the attack until amazingly Matt Lockwood completed his hat-trick just before full time.

At this point the entire O’s crowd (about 4500 of us) broke into song, gesturing to the - now remarkably quiet - Gillingham contingent (about 500):

3 nil and you fucked it up, 3 nil and you fucked it up

(repeat until fade)

Great game.

In 45 mins time England play Portugal in the World Cup quarter finals against Portugal.

Lampard WILL score first and we’ll win (my tenner on willhill.com says so at 9/1) , narrowly, avoiding a dreaded penalty shoot-out.

I just finished watching Arsenal knock Real Madrid out of the champions league and what a cracking match it was.

They’ve had a ropey league form but they were immense tonight (and two weeks ago) and they totaly deserve to be through to the 1/4 finals. I certainly can’t recall a more exciting 0-0 draw.
(and for the record I don’t support Arsenal)
