I’ve written a number of How-Tos over the years and unfortunately I’ve lost a few of them due to a rather disorganised approach to keeping older versions of my website archived. From April 2008 onwards all how-tos will be added as blog posts under the correct category however this page serves as a link to historic Wordpress ‘pages’ that I’ve created and saves me having to set up a bunch of 301 redirects to them (as I know a number of people link to them).
Wordpress pages
- Building a PHP development server
- Creating a Subversion repository
- Moving multiple subversion repositories
- Creating a separate VMWare hard disk for a Linux virtual server
- Sharp Zaurus, Bluetooth, GPRS and a Nokia 6310i
- Going online with a Palm III and a Nokia 7110 vai GPRS
External and extremely out of date
File uploads made easy
29th April 2000
An article discussing how to do file uploads using PHP3. There have been 276 comments over the past 6 years and worryingly some of those are current. Things have moved on a bit with PHP since then, please go read the manual. Anyway, here’s the link:

Using PHP and XML with Apache Cocoon
16th June 2000
A hacky workaround to do some XSLT transformations using Apache Cocoon and PHP3. Painfully out of date, before the days of built in XML support:
